YOUR FIRST VISITS

Consultation & Exam

When you walk in our office, you’ll be welcomed by our office manager. Once you’ve completed your paperwork, you’ll meet with Dr. Rayman for a consultation and exam. This is your chance to discuss any health concerns and goals you may have. Dr. Rayman will conduct a full chiropractic exam, testing your muscles, bone alignment, and nervous system function.

The Insight Station

Using NASA-certified Insight technology, we’ll perform scans that measure your nervous system’s function, providing us with a detailed look at your overall health and help to pinpoint challenged areas.

Report of Findings & Wellness Plan

At your follow-up visit, we’ll go over all the results and answer your key questions:

How can we help? How often should you come in? What will it cost?

Based on your unique needs, your doctor will present a personalized care plan and discuss next steps. Your plan could include chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, and nutritional strategizing meetings. Our goal is to keep you feeling your best, long-term.

Adjustments

Ready to feel the difference? After reviewing your results, to embark on your health journey, you can opt for your first spinal corrective visit. This first visit might include specific spinal adjustments or soft tissue work.

FAQs

GETTING STARTED

I've never been to a chiropractor before. What should I expect at my first visit?

Welcome! Your first visit is all about getting to know you. To make the most of your time with Dr. Rayman, we ask that all new patient paperwork be completed before you arrive — this allows Dr. Rayman to dedicate as much one-on-one time with you as possible. You'll be greeted by our office manager, and then sit down with Dr. Rayman for a personal consultation and thorough chiropractic examination. He will assess your muscles, bone alignment, and nervous system function, and we also use NASA-certified Insight technology to scan your nervous system and pinpoint any areas that need attention. It's a comprehensive, comfortable process — and we'll walk you through every step.

How long will my first appointment take?

Your initial consultation and examination is scheduled for approximately 30 minutes. Having your paperwork completed ahead of time ensures Dr. Rayman can spend the full visit focused on you. Your follow-up Report of Findings visit, where Dr. Rayman will review your results and present a personalized care plan, is scheduled separately.

What should I wear or bring to my first appointment?

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is ideal so Dr. Rayman can perform a thorough examination. Please bring any relevant medical records or imaging (X-rays, MRIs, etc.) if you have them. If you have health insurance you'd like us to check, bring your insurance card as well.

Do I need a referral to become a patient at KeyStone?

No referral is needed! You can contact us directly to schedule your new patient appointment. Give us a call or text at 916.452.5055, email us at info@sacramentochiro.com.

ABOUT CHIROPRACTIC CARE

Is chiropractic care right for me?

Chiropractic care is for virtually everyone — from newborns and expecting mothers to active adults and seniors. By focusing on the relationship between the spine and the nervous system, chiropractic care helps restore proper alignment, reduce nerve interference, and support your body's natural ability to heal. Whether you're dealing with pain, recovering from an injury, or simply looking to feel and function at your best, we'd love to help you on your wellness journey.

What conditions can chiropractic care help with?

At KeyStone, we commonly help patients with back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint pain, sciatica, auto accident injuries, and chronic conditions. Many everyday health issues can be connected to nervous system dysfunction, and chiropractic care addresses the root cause — not just the symptoms. Dr. Rayman will assess your individual needs and design a personalized plan for you.

Is chiropractic care safe for children and pregnant women?

Yes! Chiropractic care can be safe and beneficial for patients at all stages of life, including babies, children, and expectant mothers. Dr. Rayman tailors each adjustment technique to the individual patient's age, size, and specific needs. We encourage you to discuss any special circumstances with Dr. Rayman during your consultation.

Are chiropractic adjustments safe?

Chiropractic care has a strong safety record and is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive approaches to managing musculoskeletal complaints. Dr. Rayman conducts a thorough examination before recommending any adjustments to ensure care is appropriate for your specific situation.

Will I receive an adjustment on my very first visit?

After reviewing your examination results and Report of Findings, you'll have the opportunity to begin your first spinal corrective visit if you choose to move forward. This may include specific spinal adjustments or soft tissue work, depending on your individual needs and care plan.

YOUR CARE PLAN

How often will I need to come in?

This depends on your individual health goals and where you are in your care journey. In Phase 1 (Relief Care), visits may be more frequent — sometimes two to three times per week — to reduce symptoms. As you progress into Phase 2 (Corrective Care) and Phase 3 (Wellness Care), visits become less frequent. Dr. Rayman will outline a personalized care plan and schedule recommendation at your Report of Findings visit.

What are the Phases of Care?

We use a three-phase approach to chiropractic care.

Phase 1 is Relief Care, focused on reducing your symptoms as quickly as possible.

Phase 2 is Corrective Care, which addresses the underlying cause of the problem and helps prevent symptoms from returning — this phase may also include exercises and stretches.

Phase 3 is Wellness Care, which is ongoing maintenance to keep your spine and nervous system functioning at their best. Think of it like regular exercise or healthy eating — consistent care supports long-term health.

Do you offer massage therapy?

We do! Massage therapy is a wonderful complement to chiropractic care. Our expert massage therapists offer one-hour sessions to help work through aches, tension, and soft tissue concerns. Massage therapy is available Monday through Thursday — please see our website or call us for current availability.

What is nutritional strategy planning?

In addition to chiropractic and massage care, we offer personalized nutritional strategy consultations as part of your overall wellness plan. Our philosophy is that motion is life — and fueling your body well is a key part of living fully. Dr. Rayman can discuss whether nutritional strategizing is a good fit for your care plan.

Phases of Chiropractic Care

Phase 1: Relief Care

Phase 2: Corrective Care

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Many people visit a chiropractor because they’re in pain, so the first goal of care is to reduce those symptoms. This may mean frequent visits, sometimes two to three times a week, to start.

It’s a common misconception that no pain means good health. But pain is often the body’s last warning sign, appearing only after a problem has developed over time. Think of a tooth cavity: it doesn’t hurt at first, only when it’s more advanced. The same goes for issues like heart disease, diabetes, or spinal problems. With chiropractic care, pain is often the first symptom to ease, even though the root cause may still need attention.

Reducing symptoms is often the easiest step in chiropractic care. However, stopping there can lead to a higher chance of symptoms returning. Continuing care, even when pain has subsided, is key to lasting relief.

In the correction phase, you’ll need adjustments less frequently, and you may start incorporating exercises and stretches to support your recovery. Occasional flare-ups can happen as your body heals, and these are completely normal. Depending on your condition and how long it’s been present, this phase can take several months to a few years for full healing.

Once your body has healed, regular chiropractic care helps keep issues from returning and maintains peak wellness. Just as with exercise and healthy eating, ongoing chiropractic care supports a healthy nervous system.

Making chiropractic care part of your routine can keep your joints strong and allow you to enjoy more of the activities you love.
